Model 1179

Low Imparted Impulse Connector

Qualification Status:

Qualified and flown on the ORBCOMM satellite, Qualified and flown on the Taurus and Pegasus Launch Vehicles.

Design:

The Model 1179 connector uses matched internal springs, low force contacts and custom, spring-loaded mounts to absorb perturbations, structural interference and surface motions caused by the irregular reactive forces generated during demating. The internal springs are sized to balance the necessary demate energy with the sum of all energy from contact friction, external springs and misalignment drag acting to resist the demate.

These connectors were designed to operate in the most dynamic environments at 91.2gRMS random vibration with shock levels over 25,000g.

In addition, the spring loaded mounting tolerates a 5° misalignment during connector mating. The connector is also vented to endure atmospheric decay and is outgassed to a total mass loss less than 1% with collected volatile condensable material less than 0.1% The Model 1179 readily incorporates G&H Technology Breech-Lok® insert assemblies.

Shell Sizes:

13, 17 and 25. Additional insert arrangements, other than those shown in Table I, can be specified. Contact the factory for assistance in achieving your specific requirements.
